Carey Chen, Senior Advisor for Verit Advisors, will speak on “Employee Engagement and the Ownership Mindset” at the Vermont Employee Ownership Center on June 3, 2014 in Colchester, Vermont. Joining Mr. Chen will be Tom Bouwer of ProfitWorks, LLC.

This is the 12th annual VEOC conference. Their topic will focus on effective ways of sharing financial information and fostering habits of focus. They will assist in providing tools, training and inspiration for new employee owners to begin to think and act like owners.

Mr. Chen will also speak at the The ESOP Association, Super Regional Board of Directors/Trustee Conference – June 4 – 5, 2014 on “Interaction of Repurchase Liability & Valuation from a Board vs. Trustee Perspective” with Joseph Marx of Principal Financial Group.

Mr. Chen joined Verit Advisors as a Senior Advisor in January 2014. Mr. Chen is presently General Manager – Light Industrial Businesses at Hypertherm, Inc., a Hanover, New Hampshire based manufacturer of advanced metal cutting solutions that are distributed globally. In addition to his commercial operating role, Mr. Chen is also the company’s Chief Information Officer.

From 2006 to 2013, Mr. Chen served as Hypertherm’s Chief Financial Officer. During his seven year tenure as CFO, he managed the refinancing of the company’s minority owned ESOP and added a second tranche in 2008, as well as added a third tranche to the ESOP in 2012. He led the consummation of a series of transactions in 2013 that has transitioned Hypertherm, Inc. from being a minority owned ESOP C-Corporation to becoming a 100-percent owned ESOP S-Corporation.
